Death Cell Neck Bone Blues

There are a lot of new indie pop releases this month.

These two songs are not on any of them.

Mary Johnson

Mary Johnson - Death Cell Blues (mp3)

James Gordon - Neck Bone Blues (mp3)

Both songs from 21st Street Stomp: The Piano Blues of St. Louis, Classic Piano from the 1920s and 30s

The Neck Bone Blues link is mangled; it should point here, I think.

Right you are! Thank you for the alert. I fixed the link.

Awesome stuff, love the blues/boogie woogie piano style.
Best I ever saw was a guy playing in a hotel bar in Memphis.

Thanks, phoenix. That's brilliant, "a guy playing in a hotel bar in Memphis." Sometimes those are the best performances - the ones where someone you've never heard of starts playing. One of the most memorable blues performances I went to was an open mic night in Takoma Park, MD. This old, heavy dude just sits down on the chair and goes to work on his six-string. Blew us away.
