Theresa Andersson on KCRW.

Theresa Andersson's recent KCRW set, in which host Jason Bentley called her a "badass," is available as an mp3 download here. She proves that there is an "I" in teamwork.

That big volcano is about to blow.

Grand Duchy is Pixies frontman Black Francis (or Frank Black, or Charles Thompson IV, if you prefer) and his wife, Violet Clark. Their debut album, Petits Fours, which was quietly released last month, has lots of neat little surprises, and ends, appropriately, with an exclamation point.

Ou est les balconies?

I recently read in a magazine article that, from a Frenchman's point of view, America lacks balconies. Exactly what that says about Americans, I don't know. Canada, at least, boasts The Balconies, and if their demos are an indication, you'll see them everywhere up there after they release their full-length this summer.

My Heart-Shaped Heart

I receive many more hits than comments, and so I often wonder who's reading me. Do you ever wonder who's reading you?

And those whom I read - am I reading them right?

The Gap Band - Humpin'

I used to love this song way back in the 5th or 6th grade. I know, horrible. You often found it blaring on the shining parent-bought boomboxes that the older kids sported on either shoulder. You might have heard this, followed by Sugar Hill Gang (the kids shortened the name to "Sugar"), Kurtis Blow and Lakeside. Memories, anyone?

Gap Band 3 mp3 album is $8.91 on Amazon.com.

The Kills - Live on KEXP, 5-14-2009 (mp3)

The Kills played a live electric set on KEXP today. They soundchecked for a torturous 45 minutes or so and came on half an hour late, but this was worth the wait.

That's what I'm talking about. I don't even need the synths or the thunder effects.

Come On Baby, Throw The Switch On Me Now.

Come on baby, throw the switch on me now
Don't let up until the lights all go out
Don't you stop until the foam comes from my mouth
Come on baby, throw the switch on me now

Electric Owls - Throw The Switch (mp3)

From Throw The Switch, on Electric Owls' Magic Show EP

The Octopus Project: 5 years for a minute and a half

The Octopus Project started this video back in 2004, when the album One Ten Hundred Thousand Million was released. They finally finished it, and lo, it was good.
