As the piano swaggers and Sidney Bechet's and Louis Armstrong's clarinets and cornets sway among early 1920's hiss and static, Virginia Liston musters enough sass and spunk to boldly stun an unsuspecting barroom, and I'm sure she did that to many in her day.
