Look! Up In The Sky...

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Bluetights.net!! A website that Bryan Singer, the director of the new Superman Returns film, has put up. He's going to be giving web updates on the shooting of next years big movie on it. So this is kind of all thanks to the guys who made the Blair Witch and then Peter Jackson. After the Blair Witch folks' use of the internet, no film was complete without a website. Then Peter Jackson used the web as a giant buzzometer to get geeks and straights stoked about The Lord Of The Rings. He's doing it again with KongIsKing.net which includes set diarys that are pretty amazing. Jackson's opinion is embrace the Internet or it will bite you on the ass the way it has George Lucas, who has just recently cozied up to giving out actual information on his website StarWars.com. Jackson realized early on that trying to keep secrets about movies in the age of the Internet is hopeless, so why not give out some good stuff and people will stop searching for secrets and enjoy what they've been given. There was no need for people to try to sneak on to the set of The Lord Of The Rings because Jackson was taking you there almost weekly. Kudos to Bryan Singer for doing the same thing with Superman and I look forward to seeing what he has in store for us in the upcoming year.
